What is skijoring?
The word skijoring is derived from the Norwegian word skikjøring, which means “ski driving.” In the sport of skijoring, teams of a horse and rider pull a third team member, a skier or snowboarder, along a challenging snow course peppered with jumps, gates to maneuver, and rings to grab. Winning teams have the fastest times and the fewest penalties charged for missed obstacles, in this wildly entertaining, fast-moving sport.

When and Where?
Friday Dec. 27, Team Registration, 5-8pm, at The Brass Tap, 85 Treeline Rd., Kalispell
Sat. Dec 28, Race Competition at Rebecca Farm, Opening Ceremony at noon, followed by First Go.
Calcutta Party, Saturday evening from 7-10pm at Midway Tavern, 1985 Hodgson Rd., Whitefish
Sun. Dec 29, Race Competition at Rebecca Farm, Opening Ceremony at noon, followed by Second Go.
Awards Party, Sunday evening, 6pm, at First Avenue Taphouse, 139 1st Ave W., Kalispell

Show me the money!
This year’s total cash prize purse will be in excess of $10,000. A portion of the Saturday evening Calcutta proceeds will benefit non-profit Montana Equestrian Events and Halt Cancer at X, the charitable initiative created by Sarah Broussard that raises funds for breast cancer research and support services for local cancer patients and survivors.

Competitors
Teams may compete in Open, Sport or Novice classes, depending on their level of skill and experience. There will also be a Costume class designed for pure entertainment. All who wish to compete must attend the mandatory Team Registration event at The Brass Tap, 85 Treeline Rd., Kalispell, from 5-8pm on Friday, December 27th. There they can find a teammate, register to race, pick up a goody bag, and enjoy some camaraderie ahead of the next day’s competition. Visit rebeccafarm.org/skijoring for more information.

Volunteers
Join in the fun and help to make this family-friendly, community event a success! Volunteers will help with warm-up, course maintenance, starting gate, gatekeeping, back-up timing and other important aspects of the competition. Positions are available on both Saturday, December 28 and Sunday, December 29. Anyone over the age of sixteen is welcome to sign up. Knowledge of skijoring or horses is not required!
